Blog soundtrack:
I’m heading to Nantucket today. It’s time to sell my Dad’s house. (See http://goddessofallthingslovely.blogspot.com/2009/08/take-long-way-home.html to read about my last Nantucket adventure.) Anyway, I am a bit sad, but as one of my friends said, it will be a relief in many ways. Ironically, it will be somewhat like losing an old friend. ♥
Anyway, tonight, I’m staying at ye olde inn, which should be fun. Of course, when I googled the place, I found the word “haunted” associated with it. I will let you know if I meet any interesting ghosts; of course, with my luck, I will be haunted by the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. But, I’m going think positive and hope for Marilyn Monroe or Freddie Mercury, fingers crossed!
I’m flying over instead of taking the ferry. At this time of year, the slow ferry only goes over three times a day, and the fast ferry doesn’t make too many more trips than that. The airlines go back and forth many times a day; and since this is pretty much a 24-hour trip, it made the decision to fly that much easier.
I haven’t flown over in ages. If truth be told, I love taking the slow ferry; it’s like taking the train to New York, err, except you’re traveling over the Atlantic Ocean instead of train tracks. You have lots of time for chillaxin’. (Did you notice that I love saying that word, too?!) And, did you know that the slow ferry even has wireless internet access; how hip is that Steamship Authority?!
Anyway, the planes that go to Nantucket fit about 8 people. They are teeny tiny, and I love them. Well, I don’t love them when it’s windy or foggy, but I love them when it’s perfect flying weather. The trip takes all of 15 minutes, and when in one of those planes, I feel like I’m flying in a bumble bee. You feel every drop in altitude, every gust of wind, and the plane even hums like a bee.
Lastly, there’s a webcam on Main Street.

I remember when Brenda told me about this. She said, “It’s a Web Cam in front of Arno’s on Main St. People stand in front of the camera there, call their friends and family and wave and do silly things. But you’re probably not interested, because you never do anything silly.”
Meet me there at 2pm tomorrow. Silly or bust! ♥
