Spring is Eternal Hope

Blog soundtrack:

I love Spring. It is my favorite season. I think that the changes that occur in Nature are the most spectacular than in any other season of the year.

I love the lilacs.

I love the lily of the valley.

I love the marshmallow clouds that dot the blue skies.

And, I love the fact that it’s time to break out the Barbie swimming pool!

The pool was a semi-nightmare. The first one, bought last night, had a half inch separation in the plastic liner, so it leaked. We returned it to Target this afternoon.

After arriving home, I was thrilled by the fact that I could now put together this pool with my hands tied behind my back with pearls! I dumped out the contents of the Barbie Glam Pool box on the kitchen table. I began to assemble it, but when I went to look for the three needed white supports, they were nowhere to be found.

Totally peeved, I called the Mattel technical support line. I explained my dilemma to the lovely woman on the phone. She told me that while they could not send us the missing parts or a new pool, they could send us a voucher for $12.89.

I didn’t really care about the voucher at that point. I was disappointed that the pool had been such a bust for Iz. I asked her if she wanted to bring the pool back again; she said, “No, Mommy. It’s okay.”

Despite the missing pieces, the pool held water; I only instructed her not to put too much weight on top of the pool because of the missing supports. Iz filled it to the brim and happily played outside with her Barbie Glam Pool and her Barbie car for two hours. Sometimes missing pieces can be fun, too, especially when it's Spring.
